– Sexual health screening – important for anyone who is sexually active, as various sexually transmitted infections can have minimal or no symptoms.
– PrEP prescribing – for those who are at high risk of HIV exposure (Mainly men who have sex with other men)
– We value inclusiveness at our heart and although we don’t have the expertise to prescribe gender affirming medication, we are happy to discuss any concerns around gender dysphoria and guide you in the right direction.
Preventative Health Care
It’s important. It deserves its own section.
Prevention is better than a cure. A lot of diseases and illnesses can be screened for early, or measures put in place to avoid them completely. Your risk is unique depending on your age, family history and lifestyle. Common screening includes regular baby checks with their immunisations and the national cancer screening programs for cervix, breast and bowel cancers.
We provide childhood immunisations as per the South Australian schedule of the National Immunisation Program. These occur at 6 weeks, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months and 4 years. These visits will include a check to make sure that little one is growing and developing well. A 2 week check is also recommended.
And mums, please look after yourself too – a 6 week post-partum check is recommended with your GP. This is sometimes provided by your obsetrician if you delivered through a private hospital.
An appointment can always be made outside of these times if you have any concerns.
We offer bulk-billed in depth health checks for 40-49 year olds at high risk of developing diabetes. A score of 12 or more on the AUSDRISK Diabetes Assessment Tool indicates a high risk of developing diabetes. Take the test today and let your doctor know if you score 12 or more.
If there is a risk of developing a chronic disease, now is the time to act.
Risk factors include your family history, biomedical markers (excess weight, elevated blood pressure) or lifestyle (smoking, alcohol intake, sedentary lifestyle, poor diet)
A Medicare funded health assessment looks for and addresses the risk for developing chronic disease in the future.
Health needs become more complex after the age of 70.
People over the age of 75 are eligible for a Medicare funded annual health assessment.
This is a comprehensive review of your current medical situation in addition to important preventative health activities.
We cover areas such as physical, psychological, cognitive function, medications, immunisations, hearing, eyesight, continence, social situation and access to help.
National screening programs exist and are strongly encouraged for all adults.
